Who is going to use these mats and how will those people be determined? I actually like the idea. I'm just not sure how it could be made effective for FSC. But if someone out there does, I'm all ears.
I support this, especially if bridge mats and portable bridges are easy for loggers and effective at reducing siltation and protecting waterways. Especially if they are more effective than other options.
Good idea. This has been repeatedly proven to reduce sedimentation in from crossings. Many FM certificate holders and agencies in the region already make these resources available. Loggers like to use these because they are very cost effective since someone else has already purchased them! Need to be sure that there is guidance on how to "help provide" these things in an auditable way. For example could you hand out information that these resources are availlable to loggers and landowners or would you need to help purchase the actual mats and bridges and make them availlable?
